From about 1960, Japan began disposing urban garbage by incineration, and today, Japan possesses the world’s leading garbage incineration facilities. In the fiscal year 2009, there were 1243 incineration facilities in Japan, incinerating garbage using several methods – stoker furnaces, fluidized bed furnaces, and gasification fusion resource furnaces with the objective of ash recycling. Stoker furnaces account for 70% of all furnaces, and improvement of this type of furnace is progressing rapidly.

Mitsubishi Corporation (MC) and Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) are pleased to announce that a 25-year power and water purchase agreement (PWPA) has been reached between Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA) and K1 Energy, a joint venture established by MC and TEPCO, each holding an equity share of 98.5% 1.5%, respectively*. The agreement is the result of an international tender issued by the KAHRAMAA in May 2014.

Mitsubishi Corporation (MC) and Hitachi Ltd. (Hitachi) are pleased to announce the conclusion of a contract to supply and install railway signaling systems in Myanmar. The contract, signed with Myanma Railways on May 15, 2015, amounts to approximately 2.4 billion yen and will be covered by grant aid from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). Completion of the project is scheduled for June 2017.

Japan’s March core machinery orders up 2.9% on month
