EDISON, N.J. – Fuji Electric Co., Ltd. (TSE:6504) (“FE”), headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, led by President Michihiro Kitazawa, is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a contract for a complete geothermal power facility for the Olkaria I Geothermal Power Station (Olkaria I) in the Republic of Kenya from Marubeni Corporation, the main EPC contractor of the project owned by Kenya Electricity Generating Company (KenGen). Marubeni Corporation is headquartered in Chuo-ku, Tokyo and led by President and CEO Fumiya Kokubu.

  • 10 large Japanese companies and one french company establish the “Japan H2 Mobility” consortium for the purpose of accelerating the deployment in Japan of hydrogen stations and fuel cell electric vehicles.
  • The 11 founding companies will contribute, in connection with the stated ambition of the Japanese government,1 to the development of a large-scale hydrogen infrastructure in order to build a network of 320 stations by 2025, and 900 by 2030.

TOKYO-Toshiba Corporation today announced that it has supplied a traction energy storage system (TESS) to Tobu Railway Co., Ltd. TESS stores traction energy generated by decelerating trains as they enter a station and releases it as needed when trains accelerate from the station. The system is planned to operate from December 22.

Yokohama, September 26, 2014 — Babcock-Hitachi K.K. (BHK), a group company of Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems, Ltd. (MHPS), has been contracted by Ministry of the Environment to develop the technology for a concentrating solar power (CSP) system as one of its 2014 projects to develop and verify technologies for enhancing measures to reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. The contract calls for BHK to develop a low-cost, highly operational solar power generation system. MHPS will also participate, and after the two companies integrate effective October 1, MHPS will carry on the contracted work in full.
