Mitsubishi Corporation (MC) and Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) are pleased to announce that a 25-year power and water purchase agreement (PWPA) has been reached between Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA) and K1 Energy, a joint venture established by MC and TEPCO, each holding an equity share of 98.5% 1.5%, respectively*. The agreement is the result of an international tender issued by the KAHRAMAA in May 2014.

Expanding the Potential for New Industrial Applications

Tokyo, March 12, 2015 – Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) has conducted ground demonstration testing of “wireless power transmission,” a new technology presently under development to serve as the core technology of the space solar power systems (SSPS) that are expected to be the power generation systems of the future. With successful completion of the test at the company’s Kobe Shipyard & Machinery Works, MHI has now verified the viability of long-distance wireless power transmission.

On February 20 2015, a consortium consisting of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd.; Mitsubishi Corporation; Hitachi, Ltd.; The Kinki Sharyo Co., Ltd.; and Thales received a Letter of Conditional Acceptance from the Qatar Railways Company (Qatar Rail) for a systems package for the Doha Metro, the first metro system to be constructed in the State of Qatar. This is one of the world’s largest projects for a single metro system. Construction is scheduled for completion by October 2019.

Japan successfully launched its next-generation weather satellite atop an H2A carrier rocket and sent it into initial orbit as scheduled on Tuesday.

The rocket lifted off at 2:16 PM with a roar from the launch pad at the Tanegashima Space Center in southern Japan.

The first Japanese-made passenger aircraft in half a century will soon begin a ground test in Aichi Prefecture, central Japan.

The Mitsubishi Regional Jet, or MRJ, is being developed by Mitsubishi Aircraft, a subsidiary of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. Mitsubishi Aircraft plans to deliver the first plane to All Nippon Airways in April 2017.
