YCVB (General incorporated association YAKEI Convention & Visitors Bureau), working on the tourism industry in Japan, has announced “New Japan’s Three Major Nightscape Cities”.

“Nightscape Summit 2018 in Sapporo” was held in Sapporo City on October 5, 2018, and three cities, Nagasaki City, Sapporo City and Kitakyushu City, were selected as the “New Japan’s Three Major Nightscape Cities” by YCVB. The certification is every 3 years, Nagasaki City has been chosen twice in a row, Kitakyushu City was elected for the first time.

The new PACS features a web-based DICOM Viewer and DICOM Server that is accessible online through SUI’s Student Portal. PACS is a system for digital storage, transmission, and retrieval of radiology images.

Kyushu Railway Company (JR Kyushu) has been facilitating credit card settlements, issuing E-tickets to ensure smooth purchases and providing fee-based services to reserve seats on popular tourist trains since August 2017 when it launched the JR Kyushu Rail Pass Online Booking website, which specially handles JR Kyushu Rail Pass discount tickets for foreign visitors to Japan. On February 17, 2018, the company newly added SL Hitoyoshi and Aso Boy! to its lineup of reservable trains. (The additional trains can be reserved for boarding on and after March 17, 2018.)

In a collaborative research effort with Shibaura Institute of Technology, Hiroshima University and Space Bio-Laboratories, Yaskawa Electric Corporation (Junji Tsuda, Representative Director, Chairman and President) has recently developed an ankle-assist walking device. Use of this device is expected to improve gait and restore the walking abilities of those with walking impediments caused by stroke and other factors. With the aim of making this device more useful and promoting its spread, Yaskawa will continue its clinical research efforts, collecting evidence (clinical results) showing its therapeutic value and continuing in its efforts to improve the device. Plans are to release the device to market in 2015.
